WINTER 2005

La Flor Dominicana
(...continued)

he remaining Double Ligero line includes the DL600, DL700, Limitado (limited production of one thousand numbered cabinets of fifty cigars each), two smaller versions of the Chisel and a limited production Maduro Chisel. The new Double Ligero 660 is expected to begin arriving in stores this quarter. (photo at right)

Last year to celebrate the company's tenth anniversary, the first Dominican Puro from La Flor Dominicana was introduced as the Litto Gomez Diez. This cigar is available in four sizes, presented in hexagonal, varnished cabinets of fifty cigars each. Appealing primarily to the stronger cigar smoker, the flavors are spicy, yet smooth and complex with a cedar finish. Being near and dear to his heart, Litto describes it best:

The Day finally came. The work and the waiting of these five years have been worth it. I hope you enjoy the great flavors and the complexity of the Litto Gomez Diez."

After two years with the company, Jack Sandlin remarks, "the things I enjoy most about working for Litto and Ines is their passion for the business, the high level of customer service they provide and the respect they show for their customers and competitors. I have always believed this combination of values was a good recipe for success. The other thing that makes my job a little easier is the high level of quality cigars being produced and the almost continuous flow of innovative new products that are being developed."

I also believe the continued success of La Flor Dominicana is due in no small part to Litto's belief that he will always remain a "student of tobacco". As Litto says, "I've never seen a thing as noble as a tobacco leaf."

La Flor Dominicana currently produces seven regular production lines of cigars with at least five specialty blends. (Oscuro Especial)

"In 1999, I challenged myself to produce a cigar that was made entirely with tobacco grown in our farm. I new it was a difficult task, because it implied to grow our own wrapper. The investment was big and the risk too. But the most difficult part has been the waiting. The process of fermentation and aging took more years than I anticipated. I tested this blend month after month for the last three years. Just to be disappointed because it was not ready but at the same time happy because I would taste the progress. Finally at the beginning of this year (2004), the leaves were at their pick. The flavor was everything I was hoping for.
