In 2003 Habanos S. A. released the next line of Edición Limitadas in five vitola: Cohiba Double Corona, Hoyo de Monterrey Pirámide, Montecristo C (Corona Gorda), Partagas Series D2 (6½ x 50) and Romeo y Julieta Hermosa #1 (6 5/8 x 48). Among many Habano-files I know, the Hoyo de Monterrey Pirámide appeared to be the most popular. The 52 ring gauge Maduro, almost black, wrappers and near perfect draw were accompanied by a deep, rich tobacco flavor, even at such an early age. This Pirámide is one of my favorites of the Edición Limitadas series, and I suspect will be outstanding after several years of aging.
The most recent release of limited cigars in 2004 leaned toward larger ring gauges with the Cohiba Sublime (6½ x 54), Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial (5½ x 50), Partagas Series D1 (6¾ x 50), and the Romeo y Julieta Hermosa #2 (6¼ x 48).

The Cohiba Sublime is a massive cigar with the presentation and quality one would expect from Cohiba. According to Habanos S. A., Cohiba is the only brand of Habanos in which two of the three types of leaf are used, "seco" and "ligero", and the only brand which undergoes a third fermentation process. This blend in addition to the leaves and aging process chosen for the Edición Limitadas compliment an already spectacular smoke. However, due to the immense ring gauge, I suspect the full pleasure from these cigars will not be experienced for quite some time after a lengthy aging period.
